Course Description:
This graduate nursing course promotes the development of the practitioners’ comprehensive assessment proficiency, critical thinking, and diagnostic reasoning. The practitioner will utilize a systematic approach for clinical decision making, diagnosis, and documentation.

This graduate nursing course promotes the development of the practitioners’ comprehensive assessment proficiency, critical thinking, and diagnostic reasoning. The practitioner will utilize a systematic approach for clinical decision making, diagnosis, and documentation.
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completing this course, the student will be able to:
- Interpret relevant findings of diagnostic or other evaluative studies as they relate to acute and chronic diseases and other health conditions.
- Analyze rationale for treatment modalities based on etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations of acute /chronic diseases and health conditions.
- Perform and interpret age-, gender-, and condition-specific diagnostic tests and screening procedures.
- Formulate comprehensive differential diagnoses, considering epidemiology, environmental, population community characteristics, and life stage development.
- Synthesize pertinent history and exam information from a patient encounter to develop a problem statement for collaboration with other healthcare team members (eg. Preceptor, collaborating provider).
