ACTION ITEM 1: Grant Street Art Selection Committee – PAAC Nominations

  • Josh DeWeese nominates Caleb Fey
  • Kris Johnson volunteers to serve on the selection committee.

ACTION: Josh DeWeese motions to approve Caleb Fey and Kris Johnson as PAAC representatives on the Grant Street Art Selection Committee, Evan Burnett seconds. Unanimous motion to approve.

ACTION ITEM 2: Grant Street Art Budget Approval

$50,000 is allocated for Grant Street art, $45,000 for the creation and installation and $5,000 retained for the maintenance of art. Proposed art should represent the theme of Across Montana.

  • Kris Johnson inquired the budget of the project.
    • $5,000,000 all in budget, art budget is aligned with Montana 1% for the arts.
  • Keely Holmes asked how many elements will be included.
    • 6 for each landscape would be optimal but will see what artists propose.
  • Caleb Fey asked whether the open call is tied to a one-month duration.
    • One-month is on par with PDC process, we can extend if needed.

ACTION: Evan Burnett motions to approve the Grant Street Art budget as proposed and Kris Johnson seconds. Unanimous motion to approve.

UPDATE 1: Gianforte Hall Integrated Art Selected Artist

The Gianforte Hall Integrated Art Selection Committee has selected Rob Ley to work with the design team to create an integrated art piece. Ley has extensive experience creating and installing integrated pieces across the country. Ley is currently an instructor at USC.

UPDATE 2: Russell Chatham Print Relocation

The Russell Chatham print collection has been moved to their new locations throughout the Renne Library.
