Target Audience:

Any students who want to take control of their semester and set themselves up for success

 

MSU101 Workshops:

  1. Explore/identify academic/personal challenges
  2. Use empirically-based techniques to help them succeed
  3. Utilize on-campus resources

 

One Time Topics - Fall 2026:

  • First Semester Essentials for Success
  • MSU Online Platforms
  • Note-taking Essentials

 

Repeat Topics - Fall 2026:

  • The Study Cycle
  • Study Strategy Basics
  • Overcoming Procrastination
  • Find FLOW & Establish HABITS (acronyms?)
  • Growth Mindset & Resiliency

 

Logistics:

  • 1 hour Seminars in the SUB
  • Registration - on NAV, opened in June
  • RSVP is required

Questions/Comments:

  • Waitlist or makeup sessions? - Kaila will contact them for an individual meeting
  • Who is the main target campus-wide? - Pretty much anyone who resonates with the message to take control of your habits/skills
  • Getting the graphic on the main MSU page to scroll, especially over the summer!
  • Advertise during orientation!
  • Advertising to make it seem like, "hey, this is just what you do at MSU!"

  • Shan - Cim Kearns is new Assistant Director of Career Education and Development in Career Services
  • Chris P - Catapaloozaregistration starts tomorrow!
    • 2 new staff: starting July 20th, Grad assistant on July 1st
  • Karen D - Missy Grinnell is Assistant Director of MT10!
    • 76 Confirmed MT10 Scholars as of right now - can take up to 170
  • Kandi - Fraud - if they have a name/ssn, of a former student, they can get the student's netID to get transcripts, get everything rerouted to them/bank accounts/registration, can get money for school - yikes!
    • Summer is hard b/c the refund check will come to them, but the debt goes to the former student - most have fake credits from colleges in Florida
    • send Kandi anything that makes your "spidey senses" tingle
  • Sophia - Juneteenth celebration on Friday with Student Commons! Combo w/Library - food, music, celebration --  3-8pm - Tinworks is having a community-wide celebration
  • Mary Kate - UDA - new staff! Erik Killian - PhD in plant sciences! and Chase Ellison (moving w/in the division) as Edify manager
  • Katie from the Library - 2nd and 3rd floor windows are being re-exposed!
