Online Pork Webinar: The Power of Pork in Nutrition
The Montana Pork Producer Council and Montana State University (MSU) Extension – Cascade County are partnering to present free webinars to those interested in learning more about pork. Held on the second Tuesday of each month, the online series will include a variety of topics relevant to small producers, including youth with 4-H and FFA projects.
The first webinar is titled, “Your commitment, their nutrition: The power of pork in nourishment” with Dr. Kristen Hicks-Roof. Hicks-Roof is a dietitian and the Director of Human Nutrition at the National Pork Board, with over a decade of experience in nutrition science and science translation. Hicks-Roof has a strong focus on science communications to recognize the role of pork as part of nutritious diets, and she helps bridge a gap in translation to link agriculture, food and human health.
Hicks-Roof’s webinar will explore how the National Pork Board’s investment in human nutrition research and science-based communication can help shape the way healthcare professionals view pork as part of healthy, balanced diets. Attendees will gain insight into current nutrition trends, the value of evidence-based messaging, and how strategic engagement with the medical and dietetic communities can strengthen pork’s place on the plate. Attendees will learn how checkoff dollars for nutrition science and education can have a lasting impact on consumer trust, public health, and the future of pork.
